Andy Price

Andy is an award-winning composer with over 25 years of experience scoring for an incredibly broad range of productions; from intimate theatre to radio play, stop-frame animation to documentary, commercial to blockbusting drama. To each project he has brought the same ethos-to strive to create the most perfect musical landscape that seamlessly underpins the narrative and, where appropriate, to imbue that landscape with beautiful melody and evocative harmony.

His first job, in 1991, was composer-in-residence with theatre company The Engine Room. In the same year he won the London Charrington Fringe Theatre Award for Best Score for their production Needs Must. He has since scored numerous productions for theatres around the UK.

Radio credits include the widely acclaimed Ghost Sonata for BBC Radio 3 and many more for Radio 4 and the World Service. In 1997, Andy won a Sony Radio Award for his On Air Branding for BBC Radio Wales.

His work in film and television ranges from projects as diverse as the Academy Award nominated Wat’s Pig and Humdrum (both with Aardman Animations) to the documentary series The Six Wives of Henry VIII and Elizabeth, for which he was nominated for a BAFTA for Original Television Music. Other TV credits include the dramas Silent Witness, Knightfall, Wolfblood, Law & Order: UK, Robin Hood, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Score and Belonging.

Andy is a former winner of the Christopher Whelan Award in recognition of his work scoring to picture. He is also a visiting lecturer at the Royal College of Music.
