Hays Holladay is a composer, producer, and songwriter based in Los Angeles. He frequently collaborates with his brother, Ryan Holladay, and filmmaker Zach Cregger. The three recently scored Resident Evil, Cregger’s latest feature.
Hays also leads Kalide, a company he founded to design and build custom audio effects plugins and creative tools for sound artists.
The Holladay brothers’ film scores span horror with titles like Weapons and Resident Evil, comedy with the Happy Madison movie Roommates, and documentaries like Class Action Park. Hays and Ryan began their musical careers with projects like Bluebrain and The Epochs. Following the release of Bluebrain’s debut album, they shifted their focus toward exploring the intersection of sound, technology, and public space. They’ve created immersive sound installations for clients including Dolby, Bose, and the U.S. Embassy in London—where their work is now part of the permanent art collection. In 2010, they pioneered the concept of the “location-aware album,” composing music mapped to physical spaces via mobile apps, beginning with projects in Central Park and the National Mall. The Washington Post called their debut “magical—like using GPS to navigate a dream.” In 2025, Hays released his latest solo album, “Big Egypt.”
