Combining his lifelong passion for cinema with backgrounds in traditional orchestral storytelling and electronic music production, Miles Hankins’ scores contribute a unique and immersive voice to the musical narrative of film today.
Miles’ work in feature film includes Sony’s The Night Before starring Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Anthony Mackie; and Anonymous Content’s Len & Company, starring Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, and Jack Kilmer. He composed additional score for Sony’s thriller The Shallows in 2016 starring Blake Lively, and Twentieth Century Fox’s Fantastic Four and Hitman: Agent 47; as well as for film trailers including XMEN: Days of Futures Past.
In television, Miles is scoring LEGO’s animated adventure series Lego: Elves for Netflix, and has scored five features for SyFy along with CBS’s primetime series 3, executive produced by Chris Columbus. He has contributed to the scores for Family Guy, Burn Notice, Chef’s Table, and Showtime’s Time of Death, and his compositions have been used in over 200 additional series on CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, and cable networks, as well as in national advertising campaigns for Subaru, Sprint, and Verizon.
Miles was awarded by Hans Zimmer in the 2006 Turner Classic Movies Young Film Composers Competition, and was selected for the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop in 2009, for which he received the ASCAP Steve Kaplan award. He has been fortunate to work alongside John Williams and many other music and film luminaries in his capacity as score reader with the LA Philharmonic. Miles has studied at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, the Eastman School of Music, and privately with Daron Aric Hagen, in New York.
