Ryan Holladay

Ryan Holladay is a composer, sound artist, and producer based in Los Angeles. He frequently collaborates with his brother, Hays Holladay, and director Zach Cregger. The three met growing up outside Washington, DC, and later played together in the band Sirhan Sirhan while living in New York. Their latest collaboration is the score for “Weapons,” written and directed by Cregger.

Ryans work spans film, podcasts, and interactive media. He is currently scoring and co-producing the video game “Abelina,” in collaboration with longtime creative partner and visual artist Gabe Askew.

With Hays, Ryan has spent years exploring the intersection of sound, technology, and public space. Together they’ve created sound installations and immersive experiences for Dolby, Bose, and the U.S. Embassy in London-where their work is now part of the permanent art collection. In 2010, they pioneered the location-aware album, music mapped to physical spaces via mobile apps, beginning with projects in Central Park and the National Mall. The Washington Post called the debut magical — like using GPS to navigate a dream.

Previous musical projects include Bluebrain and The Epochs. Ryan is a graduate of NYU and a Senior TED Fellow.
